Cisco 1562's & Other Outdoor AP's A few "Gotcha's" from my Outdoor and Mesh AP experiences. Joining Outdoor and Mesh AP's to a WLC 1) Make sure you have compatible software on the WLC... if the software is not new enough to recognize the AP, it will never join. 2) Make sure you have the correct time set on the WLC... if not, the AP's will never join. The two statements above, are true for ALL AP's, indoor and outdoor. 3) Make sure you add the Outdoor AP's MAC addresses to the WLC. This used to be done by just adding it to the MAC filter list: WLC > Security Tab > Mac Fitering page. (The MAC address can be found in the WLC Log, under Management > Logs > Message Logs) 4) If the AP still does not join, it was likely shipped with Mesh Software (I recently ran into this with a 1562I). In this case you will need to CLI into the Outdoor AP and issue the command: capwap ap mode local or capwap ap mode flexconnect
